The YMCA of Greensboro
Greensboro, NC
Joe Warwick, Retired President/CEO (336) 854-8410
Campaign Date: 1998-1999
This
capital campaign was conducted to secure funds to build two new facilities and extensively renovate the YMCA camp facility. The original campaign goal of $11.5 million was adjusted to $19.8 million during the
campaign to reflect the $9.5 million cost for a new Central YMCA facility. A
$3 million renovation had originally been planned for the existing Central YMCA.
As Project
Manager, my responsibility was to assist with the Project Development and Leadership Solicitation Phases of the campaign.
April
2003: All three projects completed at a cost of $21 million. $14 million has been raised. The old Central YMCA facility
has been sold for $5 million. A $2 million renovation of camp has been completed. A 57,000 square foot facility has been
constructed on the West side of Greensboro; with an additional 7,000 square foot addition is being planned due to the success
of the facility. An 87,000 square foot facility has been completed in downtown
Greensboro at a cost of $9.5 million plus land. A
$17 million bond package has been secured to fund the projects.
